Senior IT Support Manager (Linux / Windows)
Support Team

We are looking to hire a full-time, remote Senior IT Support Manager with 6+ years of Linux and Windows administration and support experience as well as a network troubleshooting background. This position will ensure the clients infrastructure remains reliable, scalable, and secure in its mission to provide superior service quality, solution delivery, and customer satisfaction.

Our client is a leader in Linux high performance computing (HPC) managed services providing cross-platform management and analytics solutions to customers in life sciences, manufacturing, energy, and other major industries. Partnering with its global customers, our client designs, integrates, and manages HPC cluster systems as well as monitors and delivers analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, implement, and support internal technologies
  • Provide administrative as well as Tier 2 and Tier 3 support to Linux and Windows systems, VMWare ESXi, firewalls, VPN, and other infrastructure technologies
  • Ensure servers and laptops are up to date with appropriate software and patches
  • Interface with internal staff troubleshooting and resolving their technology issues
  • Own risk management strategies for information security, compliance, business-critical information backups, and business continuity
  • Maintain and review a disaster recovery plan on a regular cadence
  • Respond to, update, and provide status on support tickets
  • Develop and execute new employee onboarding processes
  • Operate independently to address client infrastructure needs
  • Provide online support during U.S. central time zone hours and off hour support as needed (e.g., patches, data migrations)

Required Experience

  • Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills
  • 6+ years of experience implementing and supporting Linux and Windows systems
  • Experience providing Tier 2 and 3 support to internal customers
  • Certification in Linux LPIC-2 or RHCSA or equivalent
  • Excellent server and network troubleshooting skills related to Linux and Windows environments
  • Experience administering and supporting VMWare ESXi, firewalls, and VPN
  • Experience with Windows Active Directory
  • Solid background working with DNS, NIS, NFS, X-Window, and Remote Access
  • Solid understanding of routers as well as networking protocols and designs (e.g., TCP/IP, DHCP, and SNMP)
  • Solid storage systems (e.g., RAID, SAN, and NAS) experience
  • Shell and Perl scripting background
  • Experience working with a service desk and trouble ticketing system
  • Demonstrable ability to learn new technologies
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills as well as team building and working skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment that values speed, flexibility, and resourcefulness without sacrificing quality

  • University degree in sciences or relevant industry experience
